“So much is happening Socially and Politically in a way that is terrifying but at the same time is producing this incredible level of unity “

“So much is happening Socially and Politically in a way that is terrifying but at the same time is producing this incredible level of unity “

Hey Queens,

I decided to make a come back with something different that I haven’t done before.

I wanted to start the month of October on a more positive note & share my favorite media personality and style crush Yara Shahidi. I love her because we share the same insight on what society should be like!

Not your typical 18 year old, Yara is a young agent for change. Her drive to confront structural racism, sexism and classicism is why I love and admire her passion in life to make the world a better place for her generation. She is a prime example of a young woman using her platform positively to share her passion for change in society.

“It’s about having a platform that invests in us as viable citizens who are socially engaged, and rather than seeing our engagement as the anomaly, really marketing to us, because if we aren’t participatory in these midterm elections or in our government and system at large, when we get to our young-adult years and all of these policies [around gun reform and criminal justice reform] aren’t implemented, we’re going to wonder what happened.”

At age seven she was required to set up a corporation that she called DHARMA. Her purpose for dharma ‘is not to live in a self centered world; to feel like one day I can look back and feel like what I did mattered.’

Why wouldn’t you love a woman this phenomenal?  She is an Aquarius (like I am ) and inspires me to do the best I possibly can to bring unity among women. My goal is to see young women move past all the negative B.S that society is spreading to the younger generation to be filled with hate, envy and a lack of cooperation and collaboration among women. Also for all women to focus on building positive and meaningful relationships and on nothing else that will not help us grow and improve in all important areas of our lives. However, the definition of what is important is different based off what stage of life you are in.

Besides being a fashion darling, she is a very driven and passionate young woman. I love her wisdom and optimistic approach towards life and change  in society…

Who is your crush this month and why?

Great and insightful read, Yara is truly a class act. I agree, it’s really important for milennials to educate themselves and fight for policies that will not only end systematic oppression, but that will leave the world a better place for the ones coming behind us.
